Strengthening the Bridge Between Pharmacogenomics Research and Evidence-Based Policymaking in Europe
Advancing precision cardiovascular medicine requires strong integration between scientific research, clinical innovation, and evidence-based policymaking. Within this context, members of the CardioPharmaGENET (CA24165) community continue to contribute actively not only to scientific development, but also to shaping European health policy frameworks.
A productive meeting took place in Brussels between Jonathan Gomez-Raja, Management Committee representative for Spain within CardioPharmaGENET and Policy Adviser at the European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC), and Dr. Adna Ašić, CardioPharmaGENET Action Chair.
The discussion focused on the increasing importance of incorporating up-to-date scientific evidence into health-related strategies, research initiatives, and policy development processes. Particular emphasis was placed on the role of pharmacogenomics in informing more precise, effective, and sustainable healthcare policies across Europe.
In his role at the JRC in Brussels, Jonathan Gomez-Raja contributes to evidence-based policymaking by analysing existing and emerging strategies, guidelines, and research outputs, with the aim of supporting continuous improvement of European health frameworks through scientific innovation. His engagement within CardioPharmaGENET further strengthens the link between translational research and policy implementation.
